 level: C With a theme based on a combined three and six-note motive, this piece unfolds over fourteen short variations, many requiring some common aspect of snare drum technique—and a few that require uncommon ones. Although is starts as a more traditional snare drum solo, the last few variarions require the player to play the snare drum like a hand drum (conga, etc.) either alone or in conjunction with 3 hand drums (1 conga and 2 bongos) before finally concluding with the original snare drum theme. Excellent for a younger college player (or advanced high school student) looking to play both a snare drum solo and small multiple setup within the same piece. Something a little different.
