A timpani solo for those just getting into timpani. It has no tuning changes, but requires the player to use most of the techniques required for timpani playing. These include rolls, crescendos and decrescendos, playing drum to drum, special techniques such as playing in different parts of the drum, and grace notes. An excellent way to introduce these topics to a player with experience on other instruments--especially snare drum--but with limited experience on timpani. Requires one pair of soft mallets and one pair of hard mallets.
